To solve the enigma of ultra-energetics cosmic rays, Pierre Auger Observatory measured the particles falls that are produced each time a cosmic ray collides to molecules of the upper atmosphere. So is determined the energy, direction of arrival and the nature of cosmic rays at the highest observables energies.
Auger Observatory currently is placed in the Southern Hemisphere in the area of Malargüe, Provincia de Mendoza, Argentina and the twin observatory of Northern Hemisphere, be installed in Colorado, United States.
Auger Observatory South consist in a network of 1600 detectors (while Auger Observatory North will have approximately 3500), spaced 1.5 km one each other and cover a total area of 3000 km2. The surface detectors network are complemented by a set of high-sensitive telescopes that scan the atmosphere (in clear nights with no moon) to observe the tenuous ultraviolet light produced by the cosmic rays cascades passing through the air.

ITeDA has had a sustained presence in the construction and operation of PAO. Be joined to the project in their beginning in 1995 and has been instrumental in its development. Has realized task of construction tanks by rotational molding, design and construction of battery box, telecommunication antennas, pure water plant, storage tanks and transport, and buildings fluorescence and medium voltage lines.
Collaborated in the construction of the laboratory of photo-multiplicators and performed the operation of itself during the observatory production phase. Has installed a storage centre of all data from the observatory in Centro Atómico Constituyentes. Has proposed and experimentally verified the basis for calibration of surface detectors based on background muons, remotely and automatically. It also provides the absolutely calibration of fluorescence detectors and the studies of the atmospheric attenuation.
Currently the most contribution that being made by ITeDA in the Pierre Auger Observatory is the direction and construction of the actualization project of the observatory called AMIGA (see AMIGA details) which pretends increase the measuring range in lower energies and improve the study of chemical composition of cosmic rays.
